From Burnout to Brilliance: The Power of Rest in Achieving Peak Performance
In the realm of Peak Performance, the 'grind' often takes center stage.
While hard work is undoubtedly crucial, many of us push ourselves to the brink in pursuit of success.
I've been there tooโฆ
Iโve burned out multiple times in my life - in athletics and in business. ๐ฎโ๐จ
But here's the truth: that lifestyle wasnโt sustainable and it led to health issues that have taken me 18 months to heal, and I'm still on that healing journey.
What Changed?
๐ Now, I approach things differently:
I've embraced a slower pace.
I've become more attuned to my body's needs.
I prioritize rest and downtime.
Some might argue this leads to decreased output or performance, but I've experienced the opposite!
๐ค And it's not just my experience; studies are reinforcing this shift.
Making the Shift
I've based my query in this post on a quote by Nicola Jane Hobbs:
"Instead of asking, 'Have I worked hard enough to deserve to rest?' I've started asking, 'Have I rested enough to do my most loving, meaningful work?'"
So, I pose the question to you:
๐๐๐ Have you rested enough to do your best work?
This isn't about laziness; it's about:
Setting boundaries, even with yourself.
Choosing long-term goals over immediate desires.
Identifying and adjusting limiting beliefs.
Actively caring for your mental health.
Forcing yourself to slow down.
Give it a shot this week!
