Unveiling My Rebecca Welton Halloween Costume: Empowerment, Lessons Learned, and Using Alter Egos for Confidence Boosts
Stepping into the shoes of Rebecca Welton from Ted Lasso - played by the incomparable Hannah Waddingham - this Halloween wasn't just about the costume—it was a journey into embracing a powerful alter ego and uncovering valuable lessons in confidence. Channeling her unwavering determination and resilience for a day brought more than just fun; it revealed the transformative potential of assuming a different persona.
Rebecca Welton, despite her complexities on screen, embodies qualities we all aspire to possess: strength, determination, and the ability to evolve. Through this experience, I delved into the essence of her character and unearthed valuable insights, discovering how adopting an alter ego can serve as a catalyst for personal growth.
In this blog post, I'll share the empowering lessons learned from my Rebecca Welton transformation and how tapping into an alter ego can be a potent tool for enhancing confidence and self-assurance in everyday life.
Dressing Up and Rebecca Welton’s Evolution
I dressed up as Rebecca Welton from Ted Lasso for Halloween this year and absolutely LOVED IT!
Rebecca is confident, poised, strong, assertive, intelligent, and silly - all qualities I admire and strive to possess.
Even during Season 1 when she was trying to destroy the team, her instincts got the better of her and she couldn’t help but connect with Ted, Keeley, and others; her compassion and kindness eventually winning her over.
In Season 2, one of my favorite moments was her teaching Nate how to be more assertive.
By Season 3, we see her more relaxed and playful, two deeply admirable characteristics, and traits I’ve worked to lean into in recent years.
Rebecca carries herself with both ease and grace, which has been top of mind the past year, while maintaining a level of silliness 🤪
Enhancing Confidence and Inspiring Growth
Strong characters can be role models for us in many ways…
In my 1:1 sessions and workshops, I teach clients to create an “alter ego” for themselves that they can step into (like Beyonce did with Sasha Fierce) when they are working on overcoming limiting beliefs or building confidence.
It’s a great way to get out of your “thinking brain” and ACT.
It also takes away (most of) the fear that prevents us from doing things differently.
The “alter ego” method is incredibly effective and fun - I highly recommend you give it a try!
(There’s a great story I have about kids pretending to be superheroes but I’ll save that for another time 😉)
Rebecca Welton and Hannah Waddingham are definitely components of my alter ego - which helps give me the confidence to grow, evolve, and build myself and my business daily.
